Internal stains are usually the result of aging or ingesting excessive fluoride of certain medications as a child. There can also be medical reasons behind your stained teeth, so a dentist will be able to assess this and discuss how you would like your teeth to look.
Tooth whitening works by using an active ingredient, either hydrogen peroxide, or carbamide peroxide. When this breaks down, it reacts with the oxygen and gets into the enamel, which makes the tooth colour lighter.
At Parrock Dental and Implant Centre, we offer our patients home tooth whitening. This uses a specially formulated gel along with custom trays which are fitted over your teeth. You wear these at night and over time the whitening effects will start to show, so you will be able to enjoy a brighter and whiter smile.
